Isopropyl myristate is used in cosmetic and topical medicinal preparations where good absorption through the skin is desired. It is also used as a pesticide-free treatment against head lice which works by dissolving the wax that covers the exoskeleton of head lice, killing them by dehydration.[2]
A hydrophobic, shear resistant treatment rendering excellent adhesion and pressibility.
Ch3(ch2)12cooch3 a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 186. 8°c; used in the manufacture of detergents, plasticizers, resins, textiles, and animal feeds, and as a flavoring. Also known as methyl tetradecanoate.
It is an ester of myristic acid and myristyl alcohol.
