Also known as chloromethane, Methyl chloride is a colorless extremely flammable gas with a slightly sweet odor. It is widely used as a chemical intermediate in the manufacturing of silicone polymers. Smaller quantities of methyl chloride can be used as a solvent in the production of butyl rubber and in petroleum refining.
